The Common Knowledge Centre is a vibrant hub for learning, community, and sustainable living, set on a beautiful 50-acre site in the Burren. With 12 guest rooms accommodating up to 30 people, multiple event spaces, and a fully serviced campsite for up to 20 guests, we host skill-sharing courses, private retreats, and community events throughout the year. In 2024, we had more than 700 people take part in our courses, 3000 people in our community events and projects, and 1000 overnight guests.
Role Summary
We’re looking for warm, detail-oriented individuals who will thrive in a dynamic, diverse and people focused role that spans visitor experience, bookings management, kitchen support and community events. As a core part of the Common Knowledge team, the successful candidate will play an essential role in creating and maintaining a welcoming atmosphere at the Centre.
Your mission
You will create a welcoming environment, ensuring a high standard across a variety of tasks. This includes welcoming and assisting guests at reception, managing bookings and responding to inquiries with professionalism and care. In addition, you’ll contribute to kitchen and dining operations by preparing and serving meals, maintaining clean and inviting spaces and supporting the chef in delivering a joyful dining experience. With a collaborative mindset, strong organisational skills and a flexible approach to multitasking, you’ll play a vital role in fostering sustainability, connection and lifelong learning within our community.

Role Summary
We’re looking for a warm, detail-oriented Housekeeping Crew Member to help ensure our spaces are clean, welcoming, and well-maintained. This role is essential to creating a positive, inspiring environment where guests can focus on learning, connecting, and relaxing. If you’re someone who takes pride in creating beautiful spaces, we’d love for you to join us.
Your mission
At the Common Knowledge Centre, our spaces reflect our mission—simple, sustainable, and welcoming. We aim to provide a homely experience for guests while they learn, connect, and contribute to our community.
As our Housekeeper you will take pride in ensuring our guest rooms, event spaces, and communal areas are kept clean, tidy, and inviting. The role offers flexibility, with hours ranging from 20 to 28 per week depending on our schedule of events. This is a great opportunity for someone who is self-motivated, values teamwork, has a keen eye for detail, and enjoys contributing to a purpose-driven organisation.

Work Placements
Common Knowledge currently have a number of vacancies for work placements via the Tús scheme.
The Tús initiative is a paid community work placement scheme providing short-term working opportunities for unemployed people. The work opportunities are to benefit the community and are provided by community and voluntary organisations in both urban and rural areas.
Placements provided are for 19.5 hours per week. Further information on the scheme, including eligibility and rates of remuneration, are covered on the Citizen’s Information page here.
The Tús initiative is managed by Clare Local Development Company for the Department of Social Protection (DSP), which has overall responsibility for the scheme. If you are interested in applying for a work placement, please contact info@ourcommonknowledge.org for further information.
