Projects

Outside of our courses, we work on projects that align with our mission and values, have the potential to create value for people and the planet, and create new connections with likeminded people.

Community Projects

In the communal spirit of the Irish tradition of Meitheal, we work with communities and mission-aligned non-profits to bring our collective energy to their biggest challenges.

Community Event

REKINDLE Festival of Lost Skills

On May 15th 2022 Common Knowledge ran it’s first ever REKINDLE Festival, an intergenerational micro-festival which focuses on rekindling and celebrating traditional skills of the past.

This free, community event was an opportunity to reconnect our generations after an isolating few years and to share the stories, techniques and tools our elders used to run their own homes. Read more about this event at the bottom of our homepage.

Community Project

Hometree HQ

Hometree work to establish and conserve permanent native woodland in Ireland, encouraging land regeneration and biodiversity through afforestation, restoration and education.

In October 2021, our Build School built a new HQ structure for  Hometree at their new home outside Ennistymon.

Community Project

An Ghriain Glás Farm

An Ghrian Glás is a sustainable organic farm, focused on growing food whilst conserving the natural heritage and environment through a food forest, ponds and native woodland areas.

In June 2021 we built An Ghrian Glás a much needed packing shed in Westmeath to support the development of the farm.

Community Project

Cape Clear Community

We are currently working with a group on beautiful Cape Clear, Co. Cork to equip and up-skill the community, and rejuvenate some of the Island’s many derelict ruins.

Community Projects FAQ

  • Common Knowledge aims to partner with up to two community groups each year, to support their goals and ambitions in benefit of the people they serve. If you are a registered non-profit or charity and would like to partner with Common Knowledge, please reach out if you would like to discuss a potential collaboration. If you are part of a community that is not a registered nonprofit or charity, we strongly suggest you attend one of our courses, where you will meet like-minded people and will learn the skills you need to take on your own project.

Research + Development Projects

We research and develop content, products and services that can support more people to live a sustainable, affordable life and generate income to support our mission.

R+D Project

Sheep Wool Insulation

We are currently investigating ways to covert this little-valued agricultural by product into a valuable and sustainable building and interiors material.

R+D Project

The Tiny Home Project

We are currently working on creating the blueprints for a sustainable Tiny Home and a stock that our community can access affordably. Read more here.
