Learn about the culture and construction of yurts whilst building the frame for a 12ft yurt from locally-sourced hazel.

Sorting materials and making a jig to cut lengths
Cutting materials to length
Making jigs for drilling
Drilling and peeling and prep of poles
Crown making techniques
Set up and making walls sections
Making roof poles
Basic materials for covers and sewing techniques
What will you take away?
You’ll leave the course with the confidence and capability to start your own Yurt construction project.
How is the course structured?
During the course we will work as a team to build a yurt frame from locally sourced hazel.
We will learn how to safely use the tools and make some tools and jigs of our own.
I will introduce each step and process along the way.
It is a gentle hand worked project with time and space to share knowledge of yurt building along the way.
Culminating in putting up our finished yurt and a small celebration of our acheivment.
What’s included?
The course fee of €290 covers tuition, the use of tools and materials, and two wholesome and nutritious daily meals curated by our on-site chef, as well as tea, coffee and cake when it is most needed. Please note, there is mandatory site safety gear required to participate in this course, please see below.

We will provide you with a loan of a hi-visibility vest for use when on-site.
For your own safety, no loose-fitting clothing or shorts are permitted, and you should wear long sleeves when in the workshop. The following safety gear is required and mandatory to participate in the course:

Safety Glasses
Work Gloves
Carpenters Pencil
You may already have many of these items or want to pick them up yourself. These items are available in our optional Site & Safety Kit which also includes a high quality measuring tape and comes in a Common Knowledge tote bag. This is available to purchase as an add on to your course ticket.
