Open to complete beginners, this two day course will help you discover the art of metal fabrication and welding - and leave confident in your ability to join metal together safely.
Who is this course for?
You may just be interested to try your hand at welding and metal fabrication, but if you do end up using your new skills in a building or repair project, it could save you lots of money too. You can also purchase this course as a gift here.
What will you learn?
Over two days, you will learn:
The principles behind ARC welding, the most common method used
Essential safety practices for welding
An overview of materials
What consumables, and equipment you will need when welding
How to build your own stool, focusing on precision and neat weld finishes
What will you take away?
Your own freshly-welded steel stool.
The confidence and capability to start your own projects at home, like building a steel frame for a piece of furniture, creating brackets for shelving, experimenting with metalwork in an artwork, fixing metal items like gate hinges
Connections to other likeminded learners.
How is the course structured?
We start each morning with breakfast at 8:30.
Saturday will start an introduction to the tools and materials we will be using. After lunch we will be cutting steel and practicing welding technique.
On Sunday we will be honing our welding techniques, putting together a small stool using box section steel and learning how to clean up welds and finish steel.

What’s included?
The course fee of €380 covers tuition, the use of tools and materials, and two wholesome and nutritious daily meals each day curated by our on-site chef, as well as tea, coffee and cake when it is most needed. *There is mandatory site safety gear required to participate in this course, please see below.

We will provide you with a loan of a hi-visibility vest for use when on-site.
For your own safety, no loose-fitting clothing or shorts are permitted, and you should wear long sleeves when in the workshop. The following safety gear is required and mandatory to participate in the course:
