Win a stay at The Common Knowledge Centre

Did you know that at The Common Knowledge Centre we have 12 bedrooms of Failte Ireland-approved accommodation set on 50 beautiful acres in the Burren?

We’ve already welcomed hundreds of guests who have come to stay the Wild Atlantic Way in the UNESCO Burren Geopark - and all income generated has helped to support the work of our non-profit social enterprise.

To celebrate the arrival of the summer months, we’re now offering you the chance to win a stay and experience for yourselves a taste of what goes on here as well as enjoying the sights and sounds of West Clare on our doorstep.

What you’ll get:

Two nights for two people in one of our comfy double rooms with its own private bathroom, and you also get to enjoy the dining delight that is our breakfasts. You get to wander the 50 acre site and see all that goes on here, as well as enjoying the accommodations. Our Common Knowledge Centre has plenty of free private parking, a terrace or two and a shared lounge stuffed with books and board games and by the way each of our rooms has garden views and we've also got free WiFi for you.

What previous guests told us said:

“Exceptional. Lovely breakfast. Really peaceful stay. Everything perfect.” Mairtin, Ireland

“Super calm and beautiful place. The staff is very helpful! And the breakfast is great, such a tasty bread!” Helena, Portugal

Things to do while you’re here

We’re here in Kilfenora which means we’re close to all the places round here you’ll want to visit on the Wild Atlantic Way, places like the Cliffs of Moher, Doolin, Lehinch, The Burren or the Aran Islands. Here are just some of the glorious experiences (apart from staying here of course) we think you’d like:

1. The Cliffs of Moher

One of the most visited and recognisable of Ireland’s tourism sites, it’s no wonder the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience won ‘The Best Visitor Attraction’ in last year’s The Irish Independent’s annual Reader Travel Awards for 2023. As this super popular attraction is busy all year round it’s best to pre-book your visit on their website before you go. You’ll need to leave yourself time to cover all there is to see and do here, not just taking in the unbelievable views of the Aran Islands and rolling Atlantic coast, but also the visitor centre, viewing platforms or taking the time to head up one of the viewing trails. They do say be prepared for bad weather but then sure that’s the same wherever you go round these parts.

2. St Tola Farm Tour and Goat’s cheese Tasting

On this morning or afternoon tour, visit a family-run goat farm near Ennistymon and learn of Ireland’s rich goat-breeding pedigree. Pair award-winning goats’ cheeses with wine, and see for yourself the benefits of fresh air and lush grass on traditional cheese-making techniques.

3. The Burren Perfumery
Based in Carran, Co Clare this peaceful spot is an out of the way post well worth the travel. Buy organic perfumes and skin care made on site, visit the Blending Rooms to see the all-natural process in action, and then relax with a cuppa and some homemade organic baked goods, soups and salads in the rose-covered Tea Rooms.

4. Aran Islands
Setting out from Doolin pier you can catch a ride on the waves out to the spectacular Aran Islands. Depending on how remote you want it, you can stop at Inis Oirr, Inis Meain or the main hub Inis Mor. You’ll feel like you’ve stepped back in time while also enjoying the hospitality on each island. You can go for the day, go for the weekend or choose to never come back but whatever the time spent here will be well worth it.

5. The Burren Food Trail
We are lucky enough to be surrounded by some of the best food in these parts and you can choose to eat your way round The Burren with the aptly named Burren Food Trail. You can choose to head off on a self guided tour of The Market Garden Trail, Farm To Fork Trail, Taste of The Ocean Trail or the Nature Child Trail. There’ll be information of all the chefs and restaurants offering plates to try along the way as part of the trail.

6. Aillwee & Doolin Caves

At Aillwee Caves, you can not only go underground to enjoy the caves but above ground there are Birds of Prey demonstrations, a Farm shop and cheese making workshops and local organic produce to enjoy and if that;s not enough cave visiting for you head down to Doolin to see the Great Stalactite, the largest of its kind in Europe, with a visitor centre, cafe and Pottery shop onsite too.
